Sport

There is superb walking along grass tracks through the Machair and a series of gorgeous firm, flat, white sand beaches which allow continuous walking or running for many miles in solitude. The pure air, wild ocean vistas, vast skyscapes, the sweet scent of the Machair flowers and the terrain uninterrupted by gates or stiles can make this a runner's and walker's paradise.

The bay is ideal for canoes, kayaking, paddle boarding, snorkelling and also kite surfing.

The roads are ideal for cycling and the famous Hebridean cycle way passes through North Uist. To plan your route see the Sustrans website

Experience the joy of horse riding on a deserted sandy beach surrounded by wildlife. For details contact the Uist Riding School

Wild Swimming
The bay beside the cottage is perfect and very safe for swimming, especially around high tide, with its crystal clear turquoise water and absence of any current

You can be in a steaming hot bath or shower within 5 minutes walk from the water's edge. 10 minutes in the sea will make you feel 10 years younger.

Revitalising and rejuvenating!
