The machair in summer

The Beach

 

The white sand beach with turquoise crystal clear water is a wonderful safe bay for wild swimming and kayaking

You can be in a hot bath or shower within 5 minutes of getting out of the sea

It is also ideal for kite surfing

At low tide, cockles and whelks can be freely collected from the rocks

The flat firm sand is ideal for walking and running

You can walk for miles along the coast directly from the cottage front door

The Wildlife

 

Golden and Sea Eagles are regularly seen from the lounge and kitchen

Over 50 species of birds have been seen from the cottage or garden within the last year

The rare and secretive Corncrake can be seen in the garden in Spring

Otters, rare Hen Harriers and wading birds including Godwits, Snipe, Golden Plover, Dunlin, Eiders, Mergansers and Divers can all be seen from the kitchen and the rocks below the garden
